The month of July is almost upon us and as usual; a myriad of literary events will be held around Africa and in other parts of the world. June through October are the hotbed months for celebrating the knowledge, talents and hitherto undiscovered worlds found in books and arts.

How can children books help in raising confident kids? – Lessons from Festival Saint-Petersburg Book Lighthouse

Christian Elongué gave a public talk on the topic “Who is the true alpha of the family? », during the festival « Saint-Petersburg Book Lighthouse » moderated by Nadezhda Filimonova and Evgeniia Trofimova from the Kronshtadt children’s library in Russia. Elongué thus explained that parenting styles must be adapted and personnalised to the kids and teens personality. There is no one right way to raise a child. It’s important to focus on balancing priorities, juggling responsibilities and quickly flipping between the needs of children, other family members and yourself.

2019 Children’s Africana Book Awards

The Children’s Africana Book Awards (CABA) are presented annually to the authors and illustrators of the best children’s and young adult books on Africa published or republished in the U.S. The awards were created by Africa Access and the Outreach Council of the African Studies Association (ASA) to encourage the publication and use of accurate, balanced children’s materials about Africa. The awards are presented in two categories: Young Children and Older Readers.
